ROHS - Our position    Ferrz Shawmut title

What is RoHS?

RoHS as in Restriction of Hazardous Substances It comes from European directive 2002/95/CE, adopted by all the EU member states, to restrict the use of 6 hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment.

It was adopted in Europe on 27 January 2003 and published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 13 February 2003.

As of 1 July 2006, the member States must ensure that new electrical and electronic devices put on the market do not contain the forbidden substances. With our page “RoHS and you” we propose you to assess yourself your status.

Is there other RoHS ?

Yes. Europe has given the idea to other countries in the world to implement new regulations like this. The best known today is the Chinese RoHS which is drastically different from the European directive in its structure even if apparently it is still on hazardous substances restriction in electrical and electronic equipment.
